Chris Bruner

Christopher L. Bruner is a member of the board of directors for Essential Utilities, Inc. (NYSE: WTRG), one of the largest publicly traded water, wastewater and natural gas providers in the U.S., serving approximately 5.5 million people across 9 states.

Bruner is a retired Partner from EY, where he worked for 38 years, the last 26 as a partner. He spent time in the firm’s Texas and Virginia offices and relocated to Philadelphia in 2005. He served as the Philadelphia Office Managing Partner from 2008-2020, and served many public companies, across numerous industries, during his time with the firm.

In addition, during his time at EY, Bruner led EY’s East Region Center for Board Matters. In this role, he worked closely with both audit and non-audit clients as well as internal account teams to support boards, committees and directors in their oversight function by connecting them to content, thought leadership and education to address complex boardroom issues.

Bruner earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University in 1985. He serves as the Chairman of the Board for the Mann Center for the Performing Arts, Chairman of the Audit Committee for Main Line Health and serves on the board and as Treasurer at Merion Golf Club.
