Robert L. Laughman
President, Aqua Texas
Robert L. Laughman is the president of Aqua Texas, which provides water and wastewater service to more than 180,000 customers in 53 counties across Texas. Aqua Texas is a subsidiary of Essential (NYSE: WTRG), one of the largest publicly traded water, wastewater and natural gas providers in the U.S., serving approximately 5 million people in 10 states.
In his role, Laughman leads water and wastewater operations throughout the company’s Texas business, including water resources, safety performance, environmental compliance, infrastructure improvement projects and customer growth. During Laughman’s service as president, Aqua Texas has grown to be the largest investor-owned water utility in the state.
Before joining Aqua Texas in 2003, Laughman worked as a senior client partner for Korn/Ferry International, the world’s largest retained executive search firm, where his responsibilities included senior executive placement for merchant water and energy companies. He also served as executive vice president of Professional Service Group, Inc., a national provider of outsourcing services to the water and wastewater industries. Prior to that, Laughman spent 20 years in the natural gas business, particularly focused on marketing natural gas in a deregulated environment.
Laughman earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Texas A&M University. He is a founding member of the Texas chapter of NAWC and currently serves as the chapter’s president.
